  • Gaurav Mehta, Founder / Volunteers Coordinator

    Gaurav Mehta, graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005 with a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is currently working for Verizon Communications in Waltham, MA developing software applications for wireless devices.

    He was introduced to Project Nanhi Kali by his mother, who works for Mahindra and Mahindra. He first sponsored a a girl’s education in 2005 and was so inspired and motivated, that he along with his friends established the Nanhi Kali Boston Chapter.

    He believes that supporting education for women now, will help India equal the man to woman ratio in fields like teaching, science, politics, law, etc in the next 50 years.

  • Gaurav Tanna, Founder / Media Coordinator

    Gaurav Tanna is a Software Engineer by profession and has been closely involved with Project Nanhi Kali since 2007.

    He believes lack of education is the root of all evil and is excited to have gotten an opportunity to contribute to one of India’s major developmental issues, i.e. education of girls. He has been actively spreading awareness and raising funds for this cause in the US.

  • Kaushal Sanghai, Founder / Event Coordinator

    Kaushal Sanghai, works as an Embedded Applications Engineer at Analog Devices Inc. in Norwood, MA.

    He has been actively involved with Project Nanhi Kali since 2007, mainly spreading awareness and raising funds for the cause in the US. He is grateful to the fact that his work on Nanhi Kali has given him the opportunity to give something back to his country and help make a difference in the lives of underprivileged girl children in India. He believes we are all capable of contributing in a small way and together we can solve one of India’s biggest challenges.

  • Kavita Shah, Founder / Program Coordinator

    Kavita Shah was born in Mumbai where she got her B. E. in Chemical Engineering. In 2003, she moved to the U.S. and graduated with a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University. She has held various positions in pharmaceutical research and drug development at Amgen and Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. Presently, she is in a R&D evaluation and project management role at Waters Corporation, that develops innovative analytical science technologies for the pharma industry. She is also pursuing a part-time MBA at Boston University in Health Sector Management and Strategy and Business Analysis.

    Kavita has always wanted to work on developmental issues in India and strongly believes in the saying – “If you educate a man, you educate a person; if you educate a woman, you educate the whole nation”. She thoroughly enjoys working with an organization that supports a cause close to her heart. In a personal sense – peace, joy and contentment come to her from helping people less fortunate than herself.

  • Ronak Mehta, Founder / Event Coordinator

    Ronak Mehta currently resides in the Boston Metro Area, where he works as a Hardware Design Engineer at a tech firm.

    Ronak is proud that he is able to use his social skills and a great rapport with close friends to support Project Nanhi Kali. He believes that educating underprivileged young girls in India would be the best way to improve their lives and raise the stature of the country, starting from a grass root level.

    Ronak would like to see the Nanhi Kali initiative achieve its goal of supporting 100,000 young girls in the coming years and would be proud that the Boston Chapter has played its part in helping the project reach its goal.
