Nanhi Kali has recently launched the first ever donation based film series on their website www.agirlstory.org. A Girl Story is a unique donation-based film that brings to life the experience of many underprivileged girls in India. The story is told through the eyes of Tarla, a young underprivileged girl who simply wants to go to school and receive an education. Fantastic Web Documentary on Nanhi Kali Developed By WISE

It was in 2009 that Nanhi Kali was selected as one of the 6 laureates by Qatar Foundation for the WISE Summit (World Innovation Summit for Education) held in Doha. Qatar Foundation has recently announced the dates for the 2010 summit in December in Doha. In addition to celebrating Award winners each year, the WISE team has been keenly following the projects of past laureates. With the intention to showcase Nanhi Kali’s achievements they have produced a web documentary which will be shown at the summit. [Read more...]

Our previous conception of the NGO Naandi foundation based in Hyderabad (with whom we would be interning) was that it is a charity which helps impoverished young girls achieve their right to an education. However, the sheer magnitude and the scale of the social enterprise was evident from the CEO Manoj Kumars’s ambition to take over the responsibility of government education within five years. Our main focus throughout the 15 day internship was on Project Nanhi Kali – for the girl child. [Read more...]

Dag Hol, one of Norway’s most eminent painters, today conducted a unique, cross-cultural Art Camp for several girls from the Nanhi Kali project in Mumbai. Dag is partnering with the Nanhi Kali team and Capgemini Norway to raise awareness and funds for the Nanhi Kali Project in Norway. Drawing inspiration from Indian mythology, Dag and the Nanhi Kalis created a resplendent portrait of an elephant adorned with jewels, on a 3×3 meter canvas. [Read more...]
